Pelvic Health
Not just women’s health. Michelle has been specially trained to perform both external and internal (if necessary) pelvic floor muscle examinations on both male and female bodies. Whether your problems with bowel, bladder, sexual dysfunction or pain started today or 20 years ago, Michelle can help you reach your goals to better quality of life through a healthy pelvis.
It can be intimidating and scary to reach out for help when experiencing symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. Many times, patients have seen up to 8 other specialists before being referred for pelvic therapy, and it is common to feel like there is no hope for what you are experiencing. We want you to feel comfortable throughout your entire journey. In fact, YOU are in control throughout the entire evaluation process. We will ALWAYS ask for consent and explain the process of evaluation prior to beginning. We can also discuss specifics of what may happen in an evaluation during your 15 minute free consultation phone call.
Back Pain
Have you been to other physical therapists or chiropractors that have treated your back pain unsuccessfully? Are you convinced that there is nothing you can do to live without pain? Many times with chronic back pain, there is a pelvic floor component that has been overlooked. Michelle provides a comprehensive evaluation that includes assessment of nerves of the back and pelvis, muscular function and coordination to determine a plan of care that can get you back to living the life you love.
Orthopedic Injuries
Accidents happen, especially when we least expect them to. The timing is never convenient. Let Michelle take some of the burden of stress of navigating a new injury. She has almost 10 years of experience treating a variety of orthopedic issues. She will work closely with your other healthcare providers to ensure timely recovery and return to the activities you enjoy.
Parkinson’s Disease
Michelle is certified in LSVT BIG, an exercise program specifically designed to slow the effects of Parkinson’s when performed daily. LSVT BIG program is an initial 4x/week for 4 weeks Physical therapy treatment program to help you improve on any deficits (no matter how big or small). This program helps with coordination, balance, fine motor coordination, and even carries over into improved quality of speech. Patients have seen dramatic results in 1 month of treatment resulting in decreased caregiver assist , improved independence and improved quality of life. After receiving the LSVT BIG treatment, a Parkinson’s wellness program is recommended to maintain those big gains and keep you motivated.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy arguably changes the body more in a short period of time than most other natural processes. There is also significant trauma that can occur both internally and/or externally. Many times women can feel frustrated and not heard when they discuss these changes with their providers who may report these new conditions as normal. While many conditions such as leakage, tearing, scarring or variable degrees of prolapse are common after having a baby, they ARE NOT NORMAL. Other common conditions during and after pregnancy are back pain and diastasis recti. As a pelvic floor therapist, Michelle can guide you through all of the ups and downs of your changing body during pregnancy. Ask about our pregnancy wellness membership to address ALL physical changes during pregnancy and immediately postpartum. Or if you just have one specific issue that may only need a few visits, a physical therapy evaluation may be more appropriate. Call Inclusive to see which option is the best fit for you.
